James John Cascone (73) passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2025 from an aortic aneurysm. Jim was born on February 23, 1952, to Carmine and Mary Cascone in Paterson, New Jersey. Survived by his son Anthony (Samantha) Cascone of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and sister Carol (Kyle) Neal of Coral Springs, Florida.
A graduate of Eastside High School, Paterson, NJ in 1969, Jim continued on to earn his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering in 1973. Jim was an engineer in both work and thought. Always prioritizing learning and trying to build things better. But Jim was also Italian, and his Italian fire burned deep. His great mind and Italian passion led to his amazing stories. To know Jim meant you had the memorable experience of hearing a laughter-filled story over a good meal or drink.
Jim’s work in low level radioactive waste took him across the country from coast to coast. He saw great growth in the industry over 43 years, but it was the people that he appreciated the most.
Jim enjoyed many jobs and titles throughout the years. The one he valued the most was Grandpa. Gino and Cecilia Cascone were Grandpa’s next chapter to his story. His love for them led to a life change and trading in many of his favorite meals for protein bars. In his late 60’s, Grandpa lost over 130 lbs. to live better for his grandkids. They will both carry on with his memories. Gino, with a strategic game of Battleship or drawing up plans for a project. And Cecilia through her story telling that draws you in from the beginning and leaves you laughing.
Jim will be missed, and the unexpected loss leaves us wishing we had more time. Please take this moment to call a loved one or share a tighter hug.
