March 26, 1938 – June 18, 2025
James "Jim" M. Clark, 87, of Parkland, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025. A devoted husband, beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. Jim left behind a legacy of love, integrity, and stability.
Born in Los Angeles, California, to Winslow and Marvelle Clark, Jim spent his formative years in Pasadena, attending Arroyo Seco Elementary and South Pasadena High School, where he developed his lifelong love of football, the outdoors, and close friendships. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1961, and went on to serve his country as a Lieutenant (O3) in the United States Navy on the USS Mullany after completing Officer Candidate School.
It was during this time in the Navy, on a brief stop in San Diego, that fate introduced him to the love of his life, Janice. A friend from childhood, Alan Hines, was accompanied by a young woman whose spark captured Jim instantly. After months of handwritten letters back and forth during deployment, Jim returned from Hong Kong and proposed to Janice. They married in 1964 and began their life together in Northern California.
Jim’s professional journey brought him to the NCR Corp, where he rose through the ranks and, with dedication, ultimately retired as an Area Vice President in Mendham, New Jersey. Along the way, he and Janice raised their family with love, moving cross-country and embracing every chapter together.
Even in retirement, Jim’s energy was boundless. He pursued a new goal of becoming a math teacher, attending classes at college and working toward his credential until his efforts were halted by macular degeneration. Yet he never lost his zest for life. He kept active, walking New Jersey trails with his loyal Doberman - Cayenne, and feeding his love for learning through books—many read with magnifiers or heard through audiobooks.
Eventually, he joined his daughter and growing family in Parkland, Florida, embracing his role as a loving grandfather. You could always find him either working on his computer, reading on his kindle, or swimming and working out in his pool.
When asked in the hospital about his faith, Jim simply replied, “I follow the Golden Rule.” Of the many things he passed down, two stood out: treat others as you would wish to be treated, and life is too short (to worry about the insignificant things).
Jim is reunited now with his beloved Janice. He is survived by his children, Pamela Clark (Lisewski) and Patrick Clark; son-in-law, Joe Lisewski; grandchildren, Joey, Johnny, and Jimmy; sister, Marge Norick; niece, Kim Norick; and nephew, Kevin Norick.
A private gathering will be held, and Jim will be memorialized at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth with his love Janice.
