James was one of the finest, most loving, and fun people we've ever met--the type of person who restores ones faith in humanity.  Always the light of the party, including at our daughter's wedding--he helped make it an even more fun and memorable day.  Our deepest condolences go out to his family...  We're so INCREDIBLY sorry for your loss!

I won Journey tickets on the radio in 2007, and took James as my plus 1. It was the greatest show. We got so drunk, and laughed and had the greatest time. We failed miserably trying to pick up women. It was a really great night. He was the best. We were in the same 4th and 5th grade class. We also had almost every class together in the 9th grade. A kid was bullying me in 1994, and James told him to lay off, and the kid NEVER bothered me again.

There are no words fitting enough for you, my dear dear friend. I will forever love and miss you. 
Thank you for 29 years of memories and friendship, laughter and love. We had several epic road trips, vacations, and camping adventures over the years. I’m sorry to have drifted apart in recent years. I am so glad I was able to know you while you were here. The light will shine a little dimmer without you in the world.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of James when we were growing up in the neighborhood; From riding bikes, to his first car and motorcycle, to camping. James really was a kind and gentle soul. I'm thankful for his friendship and the time we spent together.

To know Tilli is to love Tilli, his infectious laugh, easy spirit, and kind soul made everyone feel loved and welcomed! I remember the first time we met, out on that boat with mutual friends. We were just floating away in the ocean having the best conversations about anything and everything. Talking to Tilli was like catching up with an old friend, even though we'd just met. He had this way about him that made you feel seen, heard, and understood. And then there were the adventures and with Tilli anything could be considered an adventure!  Whether we were driving somewhere, riding ATVs, or sailing on Happy Place, Tilli was always up for it with a smile! I learned so much from him, not just about the thrill of the ride but embracing every twist and turn with open arms. He was always so patient with me even when he had to explain something 5 times which occurred often!  It's hard to put into words just how much Tilli meant to me. His kindred spirit left a permanent mark on my heart. As I sit here reflecting on the memories we shared, I'm not filled with sadness but with gratitude for the time we had together, for the adventures we embarked on, and for the reminder to live life with the same enthusiasm that Tilli did! <3

James was the most genuine and good hearted friend anyone could have asked for. He was always there for anyone and first to contribute without expecting anything in return. Never one to shy away from breaking the silence with one of his regular quips or lightning the mood. 

I am thankful that I have so many good memories and have shared so much time in his company. He was a brother to me and many more.

I met James only a few months ago, but he is someone that definetly made an impact on anyone who was luck enough to meet him. I was going through a tough time and he knew all the right things to say to comfort me and talk me through it. He truly was a gentle and kind soul. My love and condolences go out to his family and friends ❤️

James was one of my longest friendships, we met in his grandparents driveway when we were about 6 years old. James and his family would come to Michigan to visit his mother's parents and James and I would spend his entire Michigan trip playing and eating Grandma's monkeybread. (I called her Grandma too) We maintained our friendship throughout our younger years but grew apart after his grandparents passed away. We reconnected on Facebook which allowed our almost 40 year friendship to continue. This hurts more than I would have guessed, my condolences to the friends & family of James, a great friend and guy.

I had the privilege of meeting James during a girl's trip. Even if he was Geoffrey's friend he made me, Rachel and my God daughter Alex feel so welcome! I still think about how memorable he made that trip for us. There are rarely people that have such huge hearts you feel like you have known them for years! James definitely had that about him. He will be missed!

James Tilli was my best friend from 8th grade till after high school. We had many adventures together. He truly was a great person and this world is darker and more callous without him here. We both learned guitar together, cruised everywhere, and became men together. Through the years, he always followed what made him happy. 
He is an amazing man, and I truly will miss him. My deepest condolences to his friends and family.

I was so sadden to hear of James’s passing. James was such a respectful and wonderful young man who I always enjoyed working with and talking to.

What a sweet and loving soul James is and a bright light.  My memories of James take me to the first time we were introduced and he was so warm, friendly and the biggest brightest smile.  He always had a smile and laughter in his heart and a big hug.  Rest In Peace James, you will always be in our hearts.

James was a powerhouse of love and light. His joy at seeing his friends, sharing stories, his knowledge and wisdom knew no earthly bounds. He have some of the best hugs and always made me smile and laugh, even when I was feeling sad. I will miss his smile, his hugs, his laugher. Love and light to everyone who knew him. He will be so missed.

My favorite tradition, camping with Tili and the crew. I remember back in 2016 I was day away from deploying to Iraq and was due to spend Thanksgiving alone. Tili told me he wouldn’t accept that for an answer and brought me to his personal tradition. I’ve never felt such happiness as I did whenever I adventured with Tili and the crew.

Our last boat day, so many laughs, rough seas, and just pure happiness.

One of many post deployment welcome home BBQs that Tili would drive almost 2 hours for. All to welcome me back from deployment and remind me how truly loved I was by him and our little group.

Tili was the most kind hearted man I ever knew. He found me at a time where I was feeling very lost in the world and he gave me a second family.

I was lucky to meet James through my boyfriend when invited to go camping in Ocala, Florida Thanksgiving week in 2019.  Not only was I greeted with laughter and open arms but was made to feel welcome and become a part of the group in no time. I may have only known James a few years but this loss has been heavily felt.

I was lucky to meet James through my boyfriend when invited to go camping in Ocala, Florida Thanksgiving week in 2019.  Since then I’ve gained new friendships because of it. This picture was when my daughter and my best friend took a girl’s trip to Florida in 2022 and were blessed with a visit with James.  I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much at dinner. That laugh was contagious.

James and I had known each other since we were kids. We ended up being paired together in a group on a sixth grade camping trip, and that was the first time that I met him and realized how genuinely kind he was. Every time we saw one another, I reminisced about that trip, in which he would reply, “You have a memory like a bear trap!”.  To this day, every time I use that phrase I think of him. His smile and his laughter will be missed greatly. My heart goes out to all of his family and loved ones during this very difficult time.

Truly a gentle Soul, James contagious lighthearted spirit and laughter will certainly be sorely missed by all those who came to be near him.  My deepest sympathies to Mathew and Katharine.

Thank you for being apart of our family. We are blessed to have had the privilege to work close together and experience successes and failures. You were always there to be in the trenches with us. We miss you dearly.

We had a great time celebrating my departure from Florida back in 2016. But we always kept in touch. I will miss your friendship and wisdom.
