Kathleen Anne Hayes

Kathy was born on March 13, 1960, to Gerald and Mary Moore in Detroit, MI. She found the love of her life, Daniel Hayes, in high school and together they raised three successful boys. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Kathy worked at the Wauconda Park District for many years and was a small business owner running her own accounting firm, working with two of her sons and daughter in law. Kindness, respect, and wisdom were foundational to her success as a wife, mother, grandmother and business owner.

Kathy was an avid reader, both of fiction and non-fiction. She was also an accomplished long -distance runner, completing 2 marathons and several half-marathons. Always appearing younger than her age without trying, she loved to go on outdoor adventures, attend concerts, and to experience the fullness of life, dedicated to nurturing her mind, body, and spirit. She was humble and hip.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Daniel Hayes; children Timothy (Holly), Brian, and Scott Hayes; grandchildren Casey, Jacob and Joshua Hayes; siblings Colleen (Murray) Howe, Jerry (Jenn Paull) Moore, Cheri Gordon, and Chuck (Teri) Moore; and several nieces and nephews whom she adored. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Mary Moore.

A funeral service will be held at Mary Help of Christians, 5980 N. University Dr, Parkland, FL 33076 on February 7 at 11am. A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held in Michigan at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Kathy Hayes to: Wauconda Parks Foundation, 600 N. Main St., Wauconda, IL 60084
