

Herron, Lula Mae Thompson, 88, of Coral Springs, FL, passed away December 30, 2018. She was born October 16, 1930 in Canton, MS as the sixth of eleven children and came to Coral Springs in 1977. She retired from the Broward County Public Schools as an elementary teacher in 1998 and worked as a substitute teacher after her retirement until age 85. She was a founding member of Church by the Glades (Coral Baptist Church) where she served as the church's first historian, taught Sunday school to young children and sang in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lewis, two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa of Coral Springs, brothers, Percy (Allean) Thompson, Earl (Ida Ruth) Thompson, Johnnie Thompson all of Jackson, MS and Robert Lee Thompson of Ypsilanti, MI; 10 brothers and sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 9:00pm, Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Kraeer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs. There will also be visitation on Friday, January 4, 2019, 10:00 - 11:00am at Church by the Glades, 400 Lakeview Drive, Coral Springs where funeral services will begin at 11:00am. Entombment to immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens North, Pompano Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Lula Mae's memory to Church by the Glades
