Marie Ann Wilson

Marie A. Wilson, former resident of Newport and Middletown, passed away on June 1, 2017 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She was 82 years of age. Born on September 15, 1934 in Providence, RI., Mrs. Wilson was a graduate of St. Xavier High School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. Wilson, Jr. of Norristown, PA, her sister, Bertha Nestell of Barrington, RI, her granddaughter, Maria Federiconi of Huntington Beach, CA and her brother, Warren Hurlbut. Mrs. Wilson relocated to Newport after high school, working as a secretary and becoming an active member of the Newport Players Guild. Later in life, she coached women's softball in the Newport league, taking her team to the championships several times. She retired and relocated first to Southern California and then to Southern Florida, where she remained until her passing. She is survived by her six children, Catherine Wilson-Smith and her spouse, Peter Smith of Fountain Valley, CA, Joann Wilson Hoy and her spouse, David Hoy of Coral Springs, FL, Robin Wilson of Fall River, MA., Karen Wilson Affonso and her spouse, John Affonso of Bradford, RI, Clare Wilson Witt and her spouse, Ron Witt of Huntington Beach, CA and William Wilson of Portsmouth, RI, her nine grandchildren, Adam Wilson of Narragansett, RI, Samantha Hoy of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer and Letitia Hoy of Cora Springs, FL, Nicholas Federiconi of Huntington Beach, CA, Dylan Barboza of Tiverton, RI, Violet D. Wilson of Portsmouth, RI and Harry and Riley Smith of Fountain Valley, CA and one great grandchild, Jack Grant of Narragansett, RI. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 4, 2017, 5:00 -8:00pm at Kraeer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071. A Mass of Christian Rite will be celebrated on Monday, June 5, 2017, 11:00am at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 6200 North University Drive, Tamarac, FL 33321.
