Michael R. Allison, J.D., 65, of Parkland, Florida, passed peacefully at his home on Friday, August 11, 2023. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Israel, and mother, Owen. He is survived by his beloved wife Michele and his two sons, Ryan (Alana), 27, and Riley, 23, that were his pride and joy. He will be dearly missed by his brother Paul (Karen), his mother-in-law Carol Nolte, his sister-in-law Kim (Jeff) Parker, his nieces, nephews, colleagues, and friends.
Michael was wed to Michele Allison on June 26, 1999. They were together for 34 beautiful years. They resided in Westerville, Ohio, before relocating to Parkland, Florida, in 2007.
Michael was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 25, 1957. He spent his entire youth and young adult life in the heart of Cleveland. Michael played football at John Carroll University and graduated with a Political Science degree. After receiving his undergraduate degree, he went on to The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he graduated and passed the Ohio Law Exam with the highest score in Ohio.
After beginning his early career as a lawyer, Michael took his talents into Human Resources. He became the Executive Vice President of Human Resources for Victoria’s Secret in 1998 before being recruited by Office Depot and moving his family to Parkland, Florida, in 2007. After enjoying a short three years of retirement, Michael joined Burlington in early 2021, and his impact has been immense. He mentored, hired, and promoted tremendous talent in their Human Resources and Legal teams. He played a leading role in developing and attracting talent across the organization – in merchandising, operations, and all other areas.
Michael was most remembered for how remarkable of a person he was. He loved cheering on his favorite sports teams, including the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Michael was truly an unforgettable person that positively impacted so many people. Some of his happiest days were spent coaching. He coached for many travel organizations such as the Florida Pokers, Coral Springs Chargers, and the Parkland Rangers. His patience, guidance, and positive attitude made a lasting impact on the lives of so many young athletes. Most importantly, he had an everlasting passion for his family. His greatest joy and fulfillment were caring and providing for his wife and boys. He made it to every single one of Ryan and Riley’s sporting events. Michael took the utmost care and responsibility to ensure his family would forever be taken care of.
He has left behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness that will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him. A viewing will be held in his honor on Friday, August 25, at Church by the Glades in Coral Springs, Florida, at 12:30 P.M., with the service directly following at 2:00 P.M. After the service we will be holding a Celebration of Life from 3:00 P.M to 5:00 P.M. at Deja Blue in Parkland, Florida. In lieu of flowers, we will accept and encourage donations to the American Heart Association and the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
