Monserrate Corbeil, known as Monse, to all who cherished her, passed away unexpectedly on February 8th, 2026. Monse was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on September 9th, 1950. She was the beloved daughter of Ramon Rivera and Aida Marrero. Monse was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend. She lived a life of service and fierce dedication to family.
Monse is survived by her children, Michelle Rhames and Miguel Rodriguez; her husband, Edward Corbeil; her brother, Jesus Rivera; and her three grandchildren, Trace Christopher Rhames, Christian Isaiah Rodriguez, and Victoria Hope Rhames. Monse was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Aida Rivera Marrero. She was the stepmother to three children from her second marriage and was the honorary “Nana” to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. What mattered most to her was the happiness of her children and extended family. Spending time with loved ones was her greatest pleasure in life, and there was no limit to the support, encouragement and love she shared with us.
Monse was actively involved in her senior living community where she served as the director of her building and volunteered her time serving on the homeowners’ association board. She had previously worked at Bank Atlantic and Margate Elementary School in Margate and the telephone company in Puerto Rico. Monse came to FL with her children and their father, Miguel Rodriguez Sn. July 4th, 1979 where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Her devotion was to people before things, experiences over possessions, and would often advise others to “enjoy the moment.” We invite you to celebrate and remember her beautiful life by leaving your memories and uploading photos to her memorial page. As we all share in the moments that defined her life, we can take comfort in the joy she shared with so many.
