Philip Eugene Fischer

Philip (Phil) died unexpectantly in Coral Springs, Florida on Sunday, December 1st at the age of 71.

Phil is survived by his wife Cathleen of over 46 years; Son, Adam and two beautiful granddaughters, Adalyn and Aspen; Siblings, Sisters, Debbie, Mary (Scot), Susan (Gary); sister-in-law, Rena; brothers, Stephen (Cindi) and Tim, all from Florida. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that loved their uncle Phil. He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Judge Henry and Catherine Fischer from Ocala, Florida.

Phil was born on May 19,1953 in Hollywood, Florida to Judge Henry and Catherine Fischer. Phil graduated from Chaminade High School and Florida Southern College. He was a teacher for over 40 years in Broward County, Florida. He taught Social Studies at Taravella High School, South Plantation High School, Bair Middle School, and lastly at West Pine Middle School. He set up and designed the Renaissance Festival at Bair Middle School. It was attended by all students and the television news stations and considered a huge success. He was a Coach for all ages in the city of Coral Springs including soccer and football. He concluded his 40-year teaching career at West Pine Middle School. He was truly the teacher of the century and a local hero. Phil challenged his students and made learning fun. He also found a way to keep the students excited and thinking with his Quote of the day. He will be missed by his family and former students.

Phil enjoyed playing the guitar and ukelele as well as fishing and canoeing.

A viewing is scheduled for Sunday 12/15 from 6PM to 8PM at Kraeer Funeral Home 1655 University Drive in Coral Springs, FL. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday 12/16 at 11:00 AM at Sait Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church located at 1401 Coral Ridge Drive in Coral Springs, FL. Father Andrew Tomonto will preside over the Mass. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Phil’s life.
