

Dick is survived by his wife, Adrienne; children, Rick, Bob and Mike; grandchildren, Stephanie, Taylor, Kayla, Keean and Adrienne; great granddaughter, Brooklyn. He is preceded in death by his father Raymond, his mother Marjorie and brother Don.
Dick was born on January 6, 1935 in Fort Thomas, KY to Raymond and Marjorie Kern. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After leaving the Air Force he completed an accounting degree and went on to own several service stations. Later on in his life he worked as the Service Manager for Palmetto Ford in Miami. Dick and Adrienne met at a USO dance and married in 1958. They settled in Hialeah and the couple welcomed 3 boys to their family. His children remember him as a kind, caring and generous father who was always there for his family. His friends and family often referred to him as a character.
Dick enjoyed traveling, and together With Adrienne visited over 30 countries. He loved Europe and also enjoyed traveling on cruise ships. He was a caring man and had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs. Dick was passionate about the University of Kentucky basketball, Miami Dolphins and his beloved pets. He was an active and dedicated member of the Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and often volunteered delivering meals to seniors.
The visitation and wake are scheduled for Tuesday, November 16 at Kraeer Funeral Home in Coral Springs from 3-7 pm. A service will be held Wednesday, November 17 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Parkland at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow at the Parkland Isles Clubhouse. The burial will be held on Wednesday, November 24 at the South Florida National Cemetery at 1:00 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dick’s life.
