It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Denise Benoit (nee Forgues), who passed peacefully with her daughters by her side on December 17, 2025 at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She lived a life defined by love, connection, and community. She believed deeply in the importance of family, and nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by the people she cared for—whether during holiday gatherings, quiet visits over coffee, or spontaneous moments filled with laughter.
Denise was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roger Benoit, and her parents, Lionel and Rita Forgues, all of whom she held close in her heart.
She leaves behind her three loving daughters: Wendy Filion (Roch), Lisa Heverly (John), and Jennifer Lavoie (Pat).
Denise was a proud and devoted grandmother to: Jordan Filion (Kris), Evan Filion (Amy), Codi Lavoie, Taylor Samson, Jacob Lavoie (Angel), Adam Heverly (Lauren), and Jacob Heverly (Nickole), great-grandchildren: Graysen, Camille, Florence, Loic, Hughie, and step great-grandchildren: Camryn, Emma, Callie, and Ben, who adored her and will carry forward her spirit of kindness, warmth, and generosity.
She is survived by her siblings: Suzanne Depatie (Paul), Lionel Forgues, Gerald Forgues, and Carole Menard and was predeceased by her siblings Gisele Leduc (Clement), Estelle Forgues (Riekus), and Roland Forgues.
Her compassion, thoughtfulness, and ability to make others feel welcome were the hallmarks of her life. She was a positive, uplifting individual who was able to see the light in almost every situation. Her strength and resilience carried her through a difficult life, and she met every challenge with grace and quiet determination.
Our family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the medical teams and caregivers who supported her in her final months.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Online condolences may be shared at www.lahaiesullivan.ca. A celebration of her life will be held from 3pm – 7pm on January 2nd, 2026 at The Knights of Columbus (205 Amelia St, Cornwall, ON). As expressions of sympathy, donations in Denise’s memory may be made to Carefor Hospice Cornwall.
She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
