Jean-Guy Lauzon (a.k.a. John Guy, Louigi, Al Bundy and the Flash) would like to let you know that his work here is done. After a courageous battle with cancer he decided, on August 12th, that it was time to go on a permanent fishing trip, with perhaps a little hunting on the side.
This trip comes with a huge advantage, a reunion with his mother (Yvette Lauzon) and father (Lionel Lauzon), who was a long time fishing partner, whom he has not seen in a long time. The trip organizer has provided a 100% guarantees that the "curse of the grandpa's" (i.e. Catching only very small fish and gobies) will be broken and replaced with catching only large walleye, perch, bass and trout. He is looking forward to the lack of east winds, constant perfect fishing conditions, and the endless supply of good food, wine and of course rusty nails.
He left strict instructions to his wife, two girls and especially two son-in-laws that the "weekly beatings", "doodats", weekend wine and rusty nails must continue on a regular basis in his absence. He would like to tell his grandson to take care of his lawn mower and that he will absolutely not go any higher than $10 per cut...ok maybe $15 but he will have to work on his grandma. He wants to make sure that Angelina keeps practicing Crazy Eights without cheating too much.
A romantic at heart, John always showed his love for his "lovely" with a little tap on the bum, kiss, poem in a card or a little box, which his two girls know are the best kind of gift as they always contained beautiful jewelry he picked out himself. However, the best demonstration of his adoration for his wife is through the numerous times they renewed their vows. He wants his wife Kathy to know that he will be waiting to marry her yet again when she joins him.
He will be sadly missed by friends and sorely missed and survived by his wife, Kathy Lauzon (née Caldwell), brother Michel Lauzon (Ginette), children Chantale Lauzon-Harris (Frank) and Elyse Lauzon-Alguire (Ross), grandchildren Llyr, Angelina and Philippe and his grand-dog Masey.
All who loved him dearly will never forget his work ethic, tenacity, wit, charm, lack of patience, and the undying love and caring he showed for his family and friends. When John’s father passed away, he always said that his dad was sitting on a cloud, with his fishing rod, and protecting his family from any danger. In a letter John wrote he states, “Sans doute il est au ciel et nous surveille. Je le vois assis sur un nuage (avec sa ligne à pêche) et il essaye de nous protéger contre tous les dangers. Si tu as besoin d’aide, tu peux toujours lui demander dans to coeur.” John is no doubt sitting beside his dad trying to catch the big fish he always tried to and will always be protecting us.
In honour of John, please donate to Hospice Cornwall or the Alzheimer Society of Cornwall & District.
