

Alice Mae Travis, age 90, of Portage, IN passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born in Kankakee, IL to the late Leonard and Alice M. (Kortenhoven) Brink on May 27, 1932.
She leaves behind her doting family of, seven children, Sharon (Eddie) Fisher, Nancy (Frank) Benton, Juanita (Louis) Alvarado, Cleveland (Lori) Travis Jr., Roger (Sandra) Travis, Tina Newton, David (MaryJo) Fisher; 17 grandchildren, Benjamin Travis, Crystal (Dale) Bunton, Josh (Kelly) Fisher, Sean (Amy) Fisher, Joshua (Emily) Benton, Hannah (Christopher) Parrish, Jill (Jeremy) Miller, Amanda (Greg) Borden, Larissa (Nickolas) Bright, Kylie Alvarado, Nicole (Jeremy) Dejesus, Sami Travis, Kyle Young, Zach Travis, Joey Travis, Cody Newton, Keith (Ashley) Newton; 35 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Jacob, Nickolas, Owen, Kaylee, Kaitlin, Xander, Kelsey, Kaelyn, Kyle, Alexis, Silas, Daniel, Karis, Thomas, Elizabeth, Henry, Caleb, Isaiah, Max, Bryanna, Lendon, Lana, Ariana, Kayden, Nicholas, Lucas, David, Odin, Orion, Oberon, Gotham, Keaton, and Wayllon; one great-great-grandchild Noah; sister-in-law, Janice Brink; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Cleaveland Travis; parents, Leonard and Alice M. Brink; children, eight siblings, Andrew (late Anne) Brink, Minnie Johanna (late Bob) Alder, Nicholas (late Lois) Brink, Caroline (late Al) Brink, Esther (late John) Woolard, Henry (late Helen) Brink, Christine (late Winfield) Heckler, Leonard Brink Jr.; one special niece Ellie Koenmann; one grandchild, Bobby Alvarado.
Family life was everything to her, and Alice always made it known that to love your family was the most important thing of all. Her family fondly remembers that she liked to go camping, attend family gatherings and bake all sorts of breads and pastries in the kitchen. She could always be found in the garden, coloring, putting together puzzles, and showing off her competitive streak while playing games like Yahtzee, Uno, Marbles, Phase 10, Bunko and other various board games. Her smile could light up a room and her unconditional love will live on in all who were blessed with it.
Family and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home - 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307 from 10AM - 1PM, with a funeral service beginning at 1PM to celebrate her life with Rev. Frank Benton. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in the Garden of Eternal Love.
