Danny Lee Whitten, age 62, of Hammond, IN passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012. He is survived by his former wives: Kathleen Hutchins of Hammond, IN and Leona Whitten of Florida; step-daughter, Candace Cooper-Garcia of Lowell, IN; three grandchildren: Chad (Lacey) Ellison, Cody and Kyler Garcia all of Lowell, IN; great-granddaughter, Melanie Ellison of Lowell, IN; two sisters: Ruth (fiance Terry Steenson,Sr.) Blaszkiewicz and Laflonda Whitten both of Hammond, IN. Mr. Whitten was preceded in death by his parents: Laura and W.T. Whitten. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., (one-half mile south of US 30) Schererville, IN with Pastor Jason Jones officiating. Cremation will follow service. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Mr. Whitten was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and weapon's collector. Danny enjoyed drag racing and his motorcycles.
