Dennis was born in Mystic, IA on September 12,1945 - with his grandmother, Octavie, assisting his birth - and lived in Mystic until he was five years old. His parents and brother, Joe, Jr., moved to Hammond, IN, where he attended St. Casimir grade school and Hammond Tech High School. In 1966-1968, Dennis went into the Army during the Vietnam era. After serving his time in the Army as a Sergeant, he worked at LTV Steel and later Alpha Steel until his retirement.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jeannette (Poussierre) Stepnoski; his brother, Joe "Jr." Stepnoski; a niece who loved him dearly, Lisa (Rosaschi) Rasala; and nephews, Mark Stepnoski and Ronald Joseph Stepnoski.
Dennis leaves behind his sister, psychologist, and confidant, Jeannine (Stepnoski) Taylor, and her husband and Dennis' favorite brother-in-law, Bill Taylor; brother, Nick, his pizza lunch partner and biggest brother's duo Cubs fan, and his wife, Diane Stepnoski; sister-in-law, Donna Stepnoski; nieces, Danielle Rosaschi, Julie Stepnoski (Kevin Dohoney), and Kelli Green; nephews, Dr. Nicholas and Katie Stepnoski, Steven (Chelsea) Stepnoski, Kyle (Aimee) Stepnoski, Richard (Kathy) Stepnoski, Michael Stepnoski, William (Melanie) Taylor, Jr., and Keith and Kevin Krajewski; as well as many great- nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Dennis was a warm, caring brother and uncle who was loved very much. He had a great sense of humor, and loved his 50's and 60's music. It would be nothing for him to get in the car and take day trips to wherever, whenever. He was a wonderful cook and famous for Uncle Dennis' tacos. Every Christmas, we all looked forward to his specialty. Dennis loved and teased his sister and brother. He looked forward to and enjoyed all his nieces and nephews and, in return, they always loved him dearly. Dennis also enjoyed spending time with his retiree friends at McDonalds. Dennis will be sorely missed!
