Nécrologie de Donald H. Klein
The beautiful smile you see above belonged to the one and only Don Klein. Don passed away peacefully, April 5, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Don was the loving husband of 49 years to the late Janet Klein; beloved father to SueAnne (John) Procopio and Cherie (Raymond) Bogusz; proud grandfather to Michael Klein and Alex Bogusz; great-grandfather to Christopher and Anthony Klein; cherished brother to Raymond “Butch” (Sharon) Klein, Elaine (Jim) Foster, the late Dorothy Peres and the late Geraldine Paskis; uncle to many loving nieces and nephews; and friend to far too many to list on this small page! Don honorably and proudly served in the United States Army. He retired from NIPSCO after over 20 years of service. He was a faithful member and devout Catholic of Our Lady of Grace Church. Don was a 3rd Degree Knight with the Griffith Knights of Columbus, where he also served honorably as past Grand Knight. He was also a member of American Legion Post #66 in Grifith, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post post #9982, also of Griffith. Don lived an incredible life, squeezing out every moment of joy with his family and friends that he could. He loved being around his brother Knights as well as his many friends at the Legion and VFW. Don had more of a social calendar than most of us half his age! He enjoyed hanging with the Rak Pack, watching the Rak Brothers Band (where he served as honorary roadie for John’s microphone stand), going to Mardi Gras, and he especially enjoyed giant margaritas with his daughters, SueAnne and Cherie. Don loved being around family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who adored him. Don loved fishing, as well as watching the Cardinals with his brother Butch, whom he loved dearly. Don had friendships that spanned decades, and still had many of those friendships to the very end. Although his final days came quicker than expected, all those who knew and loved him can be at peace knowing that a flame this bright was never meant to sputter, but burst brightly at the end to fill the hearts of those who knew and loved him. It was an honor and privilege to know him as a father, a brother, an uncle, a grandfather and great-grandfather, and to many - a friend. Your light will forever burn in our hearts. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Funeral Services will be Friday, April 12, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ChapelLawnFunerals.com for the Klein family.
