Evelyn Mildred Mayden

Evelyn was born March 25, 1922 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Richard and Mildred (Fraatz) Zajicek. Also preceding her in death are her loving husband, Edward J. Mayden, a grandson Mark Olenik, and many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Daniel J. (Linda) Mayden, Lawrence (Kathy) Mayden, and Linda K. (Donald) Olenik; grandchildren, David Mayden, Michael (Heather) Mayden, Cathy (Todd) Weaver, Michelle (Frank) Valentino, Sheryl (Dan) Siecker, Shelly Mayden, Donald (Lana) Olenik Jr., Brian (Julie) Olenik, Jeffrey (Michelle) Olenik; great grandchildren, Aarika, Alex, Nathan, Jake, Natalie, Anabella, Avery, Amelia, Patrick, Adam, Owen, Ryan, Macy, Makenzie, Matthew, Eric, Rachel, Jason, Noah, Gwen, and Seth; brother Richard (late Patricia) Zajicek Jr.; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Dr. Robert (Carole) Mayden, Louis (Kathy) Mayden, Richard Mayden, Maryann Cavanaugh, and Sara (late John) Mayden; beloved nieces Diane and Marilyn and many other nieces and nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Mayden was a manager in women’s fashion at Montegomery Ward in Munster for over 20 years. She was a member of Nativity Catholic Church in Portage. She loved spending time with her family, especially at her cabin at Jellystone Park in Pierceton, Indiana. Evelyn was a nature lover and enjoyed fishing, swimming and boating. She also participated in many bunco groups.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 3-7 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375), and again from 9:30 am until the time of the funeral on Monday. Funeral services will be Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10:30 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
