Everett J. Burke Sr.

Everett J. Burke Sr., age 83, of Dyer, IN passed away Monday, December 23, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jeannette; four children: Everett (Tamara) Burke, Jr. of Port St. Lucie, FL, Gerald (Barbara) Burke of Greenfield, IN, Kenneth Burke and Cheryl Burke-Millen both of Dyer, IN; seven grandchildren: James and Brad Burke, Craig (Kathleen) Burke, Lauren, Kyle and Justin Opperman, and Nicholas Millen; two great granddaughters: Rachel and Taylor Burke; one sister, Janice (Glenn) Karczewski; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Burke was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., (one-half mile south of US 30) Schererville, IN with Rev. Charles Niblick officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Friday, December 27, 2013 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Mr. Burke was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church of Dyer, IN and retired from G.A.T.X. Corporation of East Chicago, IN with 34 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Burke also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
