Frances Ellen (nee O'Mara) Hood, age 105, of Whiting, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023. She was born on September 19, 1917, to the late Bartholomew and Josephine (Shover) O'Mara in Chicago, IL.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harper; daughter, Karen; one granddaughter, two grandsons, four brothers, and seven sisters.
Frances is survived by one sister, Ellen Boyer of PA; daughters: Charlene (Joseph) Nanista, Nancy (Gene) Vetter, Gail Velten, Christine (Christian) Beezhold; eight grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial visitation for Frances will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, Indiana 46307, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. Frances will be laid to rest at a later date at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
