

Geneva I. Collins, age 95, of Crown Point, IN formerly of Clearwater, FL, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2017 at Crown Point Christian Village with her loving family at her side. Geneva was born September 28, 1921 in Lynnville, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Myrtle; her loving husband Robert Collins; brother, Woodrow Meadows; sister, Lois Perry; son, James Buffington; daughter, Patricia Hill; grandson, Robbie Buffington; granddaughter, Genevieve Kazanas; numerous close and loving in-laws. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters,Deborah (Clifford) Cooney and Carol (Manuel) Kazanas; brother, Paul (Diana) Barrett; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; long-time friend and travel buddy, Mary Lou Carroll. Geneva retired as a manager at Teacher's Credit Union of Gary, Indiana. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Clearwater, Florida. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Skycrest Methodist Church where she was a member of the ladies auxiliary and a volunteer. She also volunteered at Morton Plant and Mease Hospitals. She was passionate about traveling. She and her late husband traveled to many countries over the years. After he passed, she continued traveling with her brother and friends, traveling to Europe, Asia, and Australia amongst others. She also enjoyed spending time with her sister, Lois. They are reunited again after being separated for only one week. Visitation will be on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375). Burial will be in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Florida. Memorials may be made to Crown Point Christian Village or Harbor Light Hospice.
