

George C. Flood, age 94, of Hammond, passed away peacefully May 3, 2012. He is survived by two sons: Richard Flood of Williamsburg, VA and David Flood of Hammond, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lois Flood. George was the only child born to Martin and Alice Flood of Iron River, MI. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave. (one-half mile south of U.S 30) Schererville, IN with Rev. Bob Parnell officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. George retired as a Superintendent after 35 years of service at BP Refinery in Whiting, IN. He served in the Air Force as a weather forecaster after receiving training in meteorology and forecasted weather for pilots serving in the southwest Pacific during WWII. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan in Chemical Engineering and was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. George was involved in many of his sons activities and enjoyed his years as a Little League manager and also as a Scout leader. He also enjoyed playing golf throughout his life.
