Henry E. Wright

Henry E. Wright, age 89, of Highland, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer at his residence on February 13, 2016 with his loving family at his side. Henry was born on August 12, 1926 in Rosine, Kentucky to the late John Henry and Elizabeth (Martin) Wright. Three siblings also preceded him in death.

April of 1953, he married the love of his life and his wife of 63 years, Jennie (Camplin) Wright, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Philip Wright and Melinda Wright, also a brother, William (late Helen) Wright. Mr. Wright honorably served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He retired Youngstown/LTV Steel after forty years of service as a railroad car repairman. Mr. Wright was a 63 year member of the Garfield Masonic Lodge #569 of Highland. Henry was an avid gardener, and enjoyed sharing gardening tips with his neighbors. He was a do it yourself person, fixing anything and everything mechanical at home and with cars, and was a master carpenter. Henry was a loving and devoted husband and father.Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 5-8 pm, with a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens (8178 S. Cine Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375). Funeral services will be Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 10:00 am with Pastor Don Rector officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
