James Earl Cowser

James Earl Cowser, age 79 of Griffith, IN, passed away Friday, December 16, 2011. He is survived by his two daughters: Tammy (Ronnie) Cowser- Prestamer of Schererville, IN and Missy (Darrel) Doctor of Griffith, IN; five grandchildren: Ashley Rawdon of TX, Brittany Rawdon, Elissa (fiance, Chris) Heidler, Brandi Heidler and Addison Doctor, all of Griffith, IN; one brother, Ronald (Sally) Cowser of Schererville, IN; two sisters: Omah Hall of Lansing, IL and May (Carl) Thomsen of Glenwood, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Cowser was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave. (one-half mile south of US 30) Schererville, IN with Greg Lee Minister officiating. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Cowser was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Griffith, IN and was the former owner of Cowser Concrete in Griffith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and a member of Griffith VFW Post #9982 and American Legion Post #66 of Griffith, who will hold services at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. James was formerly involved with the Lion's Club and was an avid hunter, fisherman and car collector.
