James Robert Lugar

Jim was the loving husband of 62 years to Rita Lugar; beloved father to Jim (Vickie) Lugar, Kami (John) Hartstein, and Marta Lugar; proud grandfather to Nicole (Saul) Jimenez, Sean (Marisela) Lugar, Jennifer Lugar, Daniel (Andi) Hartstein, Carl (Teresa) Hartstein, and Lauren and Jacob Hartstein; great-grandfather to Leo, Luna, Nova, Abi, Caroline, Henry and Emmalyne; cherished brother to the late Bill Lugar, Patricia Terry, and the late Natasha Eiland.

Jim was born and raised in Gary, IN, then moved to Indianapolis working for the Indiana State Police Department as a Fingerprint Specialist. At this time, he met and married the love of his life, Rita. Jim and Rita raised their family in Indianapolis. He then became a Claims Adjuster for Wabash Life, and relocated to Denver, CO, and retired after many years of service. He and his family were faithful members of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where he was 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus in Aurora, CO. Jim and Rita loved spending time with each other, especially attending jazz concerts and events throughout the country. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by those who love him.

Visitation will be Monday, November 7, 2022 from 12:00 PM until the time of his Funeral at 1:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. He will be laid to rest in Tranquility Mausoleum at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Please log into his online streaming several minutes before funeral time.
