Joan Kryspin, age 73, passed away peacefully at Community Hospital in Munster on March 22, 2017 with her loving husband and dearest friend at her side. Born April 8, 1943 in Gary, Joan was the loving daughter of William and Bertha Davidson. Also preceding her in death was her infant brother William T. Davidson. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 plus years, William Kryspin; brother, Robert (Margaret) Davidson; nephews Robert A. (Kerry) Davidson and Eric (Joanne) Davidson; great niece, Abigail; long time dearest friends Mary Lou ("Sissy") and her children Doug and Lisa, and many other friends and co-workers. After completing Calumet High School, Mrs. Kryspin attended Indiana University in Bloomington earning both a B.S. and an M.S. in Education. After graduating from IU, she returned to the Lake Ridge School System, where she had been a student for twelve years, to teach her much loved first grade students at Grissom (formerly DeVault) for 37 years. Joan served as Union Building Rep and as a Vice President of AFT Teachers Local #662 for many years, and was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, daughter, teacher, and friend to many whose lives were enriched and blessed with the time that they were able to spend with her; she will be in our hearts forever. Those whose lives she touched deeply found in her a great listener, a deeply devoted teacher, with a great sense of humor who loved to laugh, and had a smile that was infectious. When not taking college courses in the summer months, Joan enjoyed spending time in the north woods of Minnesota with family, friends, and her much loved poodles. She was a faithful member of St. Matthias Catholic Church of Crown Point.Friends are invited to meet and reminisce with the family on Wednesday March 29, 2017 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN) or again on Thursday March 30, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthias Catholic Church (101 W.
