He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Joan May of Hammond, IN; and brother, Bobby G. May of Lake Station, IN. He is survived by his sister, Debra Stempf (Richard) of Hobart IN; brother, John Anthony May of Portage; nephews, Scott Stempf, Ryan Stempf (Chandra), and Branden Acheson; and niece, Cayla Acheson. Joe had many lifetime friends, coworkers and retiree friends in Florida.
Joe was a retired steelworker from Cleveland Cliffs in Riverdale IL. He was at one time an avid bowler, and a longtime Cubs and Bears fan.
He will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
