

Joseph Seren Jr. age 88, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Richard) Porras; son, Joseph Jay Seren; grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin) Kasza, Richard Joseph (Katie) Porras, Rachel (Charlie) Karge, Nickolis (Breanna) Voris and Antonio (Cheyenne) Porras; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Joshua and Grace Overton, Farrah, Rowan and Cameron Voris, Charlie, Elena, Andrea and Claire Karge; brother, Robert (Eva) Seren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Anna Seren; sisters, Matty (late Buddy) Bailey and Fanny Mae (late Shirley) Burks and brother, Johnny (late Mabel) Seren.
Joe was born on January 26, 1933, in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Joseph and Elsie Mae Seren. He proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On June 10, 1955, he married the love of his life, Anna Pauline Watkins and, together, they raised 2 children. Joe retired from the City of Hammond Parks Department with over 30 years of service, a job he truly loved. He enjoyed being outside gardening and nurturing his flowers and trees. Joe enjoyed spending time with his children and, especially, his great-grandchildren.
Joe was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) with Pastor Orlando Soler officiating. Inurnment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN.
