Larry D Burk

Larry Burk, age 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty L. Burk; children: Julie (Matt) Shannon, Brian (Mary Ann) Burk, Vanessa (Alberto) Silva and Danielle Burk; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers: Bill Burk and Charles (Ginger) Burk; sisters-in-law: Mary Jane (Tom) Straubel and Catherine (Jack) Grubbs. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael S. Burk; parents: Thelmar and Opal Burk and sister, Arlene McNeal.

Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and Army National Guard for 24 years before retiring in 1999. He was the former Chief of Lake Ridge Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a dedicate member of Family Christian Center in Munster.

Larry loved to travel, map out family vacations, fish, but most of all, he loved is family. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013, 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave., Schererville) with Pastor Jonathon Mitchell officiating. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
