

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Terri (Thomas) Kopanda, Melinda Sue (John) Rosaschi, and Allison Crane; her cherished grandchildren, Kristian (Lauren Davis) Kopanda, Melissa (Frank) Mikolajczyk, Melanie (Daniel) Winchell, and Keith Kopanda; and her adored great-grandchildren, Faith, Aaron, Brooklyn, Daniel, and Drew. She also leaves behind her dear brother, William (Joyce) Peters; and her faithful dachshund, Tyra.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years, Russell Crane; her parents, William and Alice Peters; and her sisters, Mona and Kay.
Mary was a proud graduate of TF North High School, where she was a member of the swim team. She later worked for many years in the cafeteria for the School Town of Highland, and also enjoyed her time working as a bartender at Shakey’s Restaurant, bringing joy and warmth to those around her wherever she went.
A breast cancer survivor, Mary was honored as “Miss February” in the 2018 Pink Ribbon Society calendar, a testament to her strength, resilience, and inspiring spirit. She had a zest for life, a love for the color red, and a heart that made everyone feel like family.
Mary’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Mary’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
