Mary Ann Modos

Mary Modos, 94, of Crown Point, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011. She was born September 28, 1916 in Indiana Harbor, IN to Michael and Anna (nee: Janovick) Johnson. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and great aunt. Mary was a member of the St. Matthias Church, Crown Point. Heritage Quilters of Crown Point; Pruzin Center Sewing Group and volunteered at the Methodist Hospital Gift Shop. She had also been employed by Wise Way Foods, Tepe's Department Store, and a school cafeteria cashier. Mary married John Stephen Modos in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1985. She is survived by a daughter, Anne Marie (Richard) Forney; grandsons: Kurt and Troy (Patty) Forney; great-grandsons: Zak, Jakob and Leucas Forney. Also survived by a brother, Steve (Ann Marie) Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary was preceded in death by a son, John C. Modos; brothers: Paul Zedov, John Johnson, and Mike Johnson. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN with Father Joseph Kelchak officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the memorial service. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Preferred memorials may be given in Mary's memory to either The Chicagoland Christian Village or St. Anthony Hospice.
