Maymie Amelia McDaniel, age 87, of Crown Point, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home. Maymie was born November 22, 1926 in Crown Point to the late Martin and Mary Gernenz (Niedermeyer). She married the late Rufus McDaniel, he preceded her in death on February 21, 2011. Also preceding her in death is her brother, Marvin Gernenz. Survivors include her sons: Gerald (Christine) McDaniel of Hebron and Ronald McDaniel of Crown Point; grandchildren: Nichole and Jeffrey (Roxanne) McDaniel; her brother, Alfred (Joan) Gernenz; and sister-in-law, Liz Gernenz. Maymie mainly worked various secretarial jobs outside the home. She was a member of Deep River Church of Christ. In her younger years, Maymie enjoyed card parties with her husband and dancing. She is dancing again with Rufus. She was active wither her bowling league strikes and spares in Merrillville. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Ronald Buche officiating at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave; Schererville, IN 46375). Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
