Muriel was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Paul C. Murchek; her parents, Walter and Rosalind Stavitzke; and her brothers, Walter Stavitzke, Jr. and Richard Stavitzke.
She is survived by her loving children, Paulette (the late Fred) Porter, David (Fred) Murchek, Pamela (Carolina) Murchek, and Daniel Murchek; her ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; along with several cherished extended family members.
Muriel retired from the Hammond YMCA after 30 years of dedicated service. She had a deep love for bowling, swimming, reading, butterflies, the color orange, and cats. Known for her generous spirit, Muriel loved helping others and spending time with her family. Every holiday, she made it a tradition to welcome someone into her home who needed a warm meal. When her children and grandchildren were young, she was deeply involved in all of their extracurricular activities, always offering encouragement and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Muriel’s honor to the Hammond YMCA.
