Norma was an active member in the Crown Point community. She worked at the Lake County Court house gift shop and candy shop for many years, and volunteered at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point, IN. She was also a member and volunteer for the First Presbyterian Church.
Norma had an extraordinary ability to light up every room she entered, and everyone from a stranger on the street to her 50+ year besties, was drawn to her cheery personality like a magnet. She was known to dress to the 9s, and always added a festive, sparkly pin to complete her perfect outfit. She taught her grandchildren and great grandchildren how to jitterbug and rhyme songs. Norma was always available for a laugh, hug, song, dance, big bowl of rocky road and a nighttime face tickle. She had a strong Christian faith that gave her a beautiful outlook on life. Norma inspired us, loved us, and took great care of us. We will all miss her more than words can say but we know Norma is the newest bright light up in Heaven. We love you GG.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Donald E. Strayer, son Robert Allen Strayer, parents Mildred and Herman Peters and sister Carmen Peters.
Norma is survived by daughters Sharon (George) Murrow, Debra Strayer, and Son David (Chris) Strayer, brother Harold Peters, granddaughters Vanessa (Steve) Bartos, Erika (Geoff) Gilmore, and grandson George (Meg) Murrow.
