Pat was a kind Aunt to many nieces, nephews and adopted Grandmother to many children along the way.
She was preceded in death by her 4 siblings. Gerald, Helen, Rebecca and Hazel.
Pat was born in Jacksonville, FL to Ebert and Massie Massey on March 5, 1935, in the heart of the depression. Her father was a Merchant Marine and her mother a homemaker. As a Merchant Marine, her dad was involved in the movement of soldiers and supplies in the war effort against Nazi Germany. Her mother was also involved in the war effort as an airplane spotter. After the war, her dad eventually moved his family to the Chicago area where she met her husband Donald. There she raised her family first in the Roseland neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago and then later in South Holland, IL.
Pat put her trust in Jesus as her Lord and Savior, many years ago when she faced the difficulties of life as a young wife and mother of four boys. Jesus spoke to her heart saying, “I am the friend you have always needed,” and invited her into his Kingdom. As a Christian, she learned to love and forgive even as she had been loved and forgiven by Jesus. She became involved in many people’s lives and was a blessing to all she encountered. Pat was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of South Holland, IL and later Shepherd of the Woods Church of Jacksonville, FL first attending with her husband Donald until he passed away in 1999 and then with her second husband Frank until his passing. After moving back up to the Northwest Indiana area, she was glad to call Cross Point Church of Crown Point, IN her home along with her son Douglas and his wife Madeleine. Pat was also a beloved friend of many at the Spirit of God Fellowship of South Holland, IL.
Throughout her life, Pat was known for her beautiful voice. She loved to sing both in choirs as well as for weddings. She cherished the Word of God; reading the Bible throughout the day. She had a love for art and her family is blessed to have several pieces of her beautiful artwork. Pat even took up acting at one point. As a student of South Suburban College, she, along with her son Dennis and his then girlfriend Hulda took part in several Gilbert and Sullivan productions. Finally, Pat was a lover of all things beautiful: a lovely sunrise or sunset, flowers, birds and several much-loved dogs and cats.
She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
