Phillip David Slayton Sr.

Phillip D. Slayton Sr. age 75, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Slayton; daughters, Vicki (Fred) Shelton and Rhonda (Rick) Caruso; sons, Phillip (Ellen) Slayton Jr., Timothy (Candace) Slayton and Jonathon (Jodi) Slayton; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Vivian (Dan) Crane and Sherry (J.D.) Cloud; brother, Chester (Van) Slayton and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers. Phillip was born in Fayetteville, TN and moved to Hammond, IN in 1959. On July 2, 1960 he married Linda McMeans and together they raised 5 children. Phillip was an Industrial Maintenance Supervisor for various steel manufacturers for over 40 years. He also worked for 11 years at Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Woodmar Baptist Church in Hammond. Phillip was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S.
