Ricky you are so loved and missed by many. Your smile is so contagious, and we know that you are making everyone smile in heaven.

Rick, the funeral house was packed.  You impacted so many lives.  You were probably the best troop I ever had.  Every task and every effort was taken seriously.  I never hesitated having you stand in for me in any meeting or brief. 

You and some others helped me get where I am today. 

You were a goofball and I really enjoyed knowing you and your family.  

You will be missed.

I am so sorry for the loss of your husband/father.  Please know that your family at Knob Noster Elementary sends their sincere condolences.  Please know we are here for you and the kids.  Sending prayers, love, and support. May God comfort and guide you all through this.

I was Ricky's elementary principal at Lake Village Elementary School. I do remember him. He was always smiling and well mannered. I am so pleased to know he was successful and had a nice family. My sincerest condolences to his family at his passing. As Vice Commander of Lake Village American Legion Post 375, know we honor him and his service. May he rest in peace in the Post Everlasting.

The following words were shared during a Celebration Of Life at Rick's workplace:

If you know me, or know anything about me, you probably know two things: Firstly, I can’t ever seem to stop talking, and secondly, I spent alot of time inside Sgt Weigl’s office in the past year. What you might not know is we didn’t just talk about work, discipline, and EPR Bullets in his office; We talked about life, we talked about being a father, a husband, and a leader. But not just being one, but what it means to be a good one. We talked about pain and healing, we talked about sacrifice, and  we talked about love. The ancient greek language has 3 predominant and different words for love, I’ll get back to that in a moment.  Now if you know this man as Sgt Weigl, you probably know the phrase “How can I make your day better?” If you walked into his office you heard him say this and stop whatever he was doing to help you. The Greeks called this philia, we call it Love. If you know him as Dad, you should know that the one thing he wanted the most, was to be a good father to you guys, he loved you more than anything else in this world, and while we all kept him away from home more than we liked, he missed you guys every single moment he wasn't there, and would give up anything to have that time back, the Greeks call this agape, we call it love. And Mrs Weigl, you know him in a way that no one else here could possibly know him, you know the kindness and power in his soul, you know the love he had for all who crossed his path. You suffer the greatest loss of us all who survive him. The Greeks called it Eros, we call it love. No matter what you called him, where you met him, or how long you’ve known him, you know he would drop anything to come and help you in a time of need. A helping hand from him was just a phone call away. Forget what the Greeks call it, We call this love.



I  was shocked and very saddened by the news of the passing of Ricky.  I remember him as always the funny one, always with a big smile on his face, and always friendly.    My condolences to the Weigl family especially his wife and 3 beautiful children.    You will never be forgotten.  You are with your Grandma Rose and Grandpa Richard, along with numerous other relatives.   You are in good hands.  

From the first time we met Ricky to the last time we saw him at Robs wedding, Ricky was a force of Nature. Always trying something new whether it be making short movies as a teenager... experimenting with props....or daredevil stunts... his fancy dance moves and not forgetting that infectious smile that would light up the whole room.  Ricky will forever be in our hearts and thoughts... Rest in Peace

I love you, forever and always. You are loved hunny, way way more than you know. You’ll forever be missed. You’re one of a kind. Everything about you was unique. You are unforgettable & forever in my heart. I promise to provide and protect and raise our children with God leading our steps.

 They’re sooo incredible & smart and talented and WE made them. We raised them and because of “we”, these children are so incredibly strong, resilient & adventurers at heart. They’re funny as hell & Witty & stubborn. Because of “we”, I know they’ll never give up, they’ll always press on& they’ll never stop until the battle is won. Hands in. We are a team, always. As Jimi Pitts once said “party like Jesus”& I know you’re up there doing just that!! You were always the life of the party. The one who stole the dance floor and had moves for days. Your contagious smile is unforgettable. Bryson looks just like you hunny. And little Ricky has your heart of gold, and little miss got your moves. They’re sooo full of you& who you are. I’m so thankful for the life we shared and the memories made, the wild adventures & Friday night movie nights, and Sunday fundays at church with ice cream afterwards for lunch 

Our days were not always good or easy but they made us who we are today. Strong. Brave. & powerful. 

Whenever I felt overwhelmed, you’d ask me “how do you eat an elephant?” —- “one bite at a time”

& that’s how I’ll handle this day& moving forward... baby steps... one foot

Who gets lost WITH a map??? WE DO!!!! Our memories are endless and will forever be cherished. You are the one and only Uncle Ricky!!! Until we meet again! Love you so much Big Brother! 

My cousin Ricky was a huge part of my childhood, whether it was swimming in his pool, trying to stay up all night playing video games, boxing with the cousins, playing in the woods...so many fond memories that I will always cherish.  While we may have grown apart over the years, I've always considered him family and was so fortunate to have seen him for my wedding a month ago.  His smile would brighten any room, and now he'll be smiling at us from above next to Granny and Uncle Skip.  I'll miss you cousin.

Rickie smile since the day he was borned was so beautiful and kind. It was so easy to be around him with his bubbly personality.  He always treated me with such respect and kindness. He will be in my memories always. May all of you have peace till we meet with him again  in heaven. Love all of you. Aunt Gina

I always remember you smiling and clowning around when Id visit my hubs office. Always trying to make others laugh. Ill never forget Tony telling you "Dont poke the Jenny". May you rest in peace.

Master Sergeant Richard Allen Weigl, age 33 of Knob Noster, Missouri, formerly of Lake Village, IN, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019.  
He is survived by his wife, Kristi Weigl; sons, Bryson and Lil Ricky; daughter, Lexi; parents, Richard Jr. and Nerissa Weigl; brothers, Jason (Jen) Weigl and Erik (Jen) Weigl; sister, Patricia (Victor) Smith; nieces and nephews, Brianne (Angel), Jaylin, Anthony, Annabelle, Jayden, Kolten, Ryder, Nathan, Hailey Jane, and Scott; aunts and uncles, Patti (Don) Carpenter, Gina (Bob) Miner/Huppenthal, Don (Mary) Helm, Anita (Tom) Marks, Linda (Patrick) Szajkovics, Ron (Rita) Weigl and Renata Bergunder as well as numerous loving and caring cousins, friends, and extended family members.
Ricky will continue his journey in Heaven beside his loving Granny, Margaret D. Helm.
