Robert I. Lamken

Robert I. Lamken, age 93, of Merrillville, IN passed away Friday, September 23, 2016. He is survived by his four children: Roy (Linda) Lamken, Linda (Stanley) Whitright, Charles (Connie) Lamken and Carol (Mike) Sabau; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Mr. Lamken was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Lamken. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 S. Cline Ave. (one-half mile south of U.S. 30) Schererville, IN with Rev. Mark Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Mr. Lamken retired from Bell Telephone Company with 31 years of service. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Crown Point, IN. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was also an avid reader. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s loving memory to the Disabled American Veterans or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
