Robert R. Smoot

Bob is the loving husband of 68 years to Geraldine "Jeri" Smoot; beloved father to Laura (Ron) Peters, Kristen Smoot, Karen (John) Bauer, and the late Kathleen Smoot; proud grandfather to Michael (Jennifer) Peters, Mitchell (Danielle) Peters, Austin (Jennifer) Bauer, Trevor Bauer, and the late Meghan Anne Manning; great-grandpa to Aiden and Elizabeth; cherished brother to Adele Ziemba, and the late Jerome Smoot; uncle and friend to many.

Bob and his wife are faithful parishioners of St. Matthias Catholic Church. He was a past member of the Hammond Optimist Club. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and golfing. Traveling was a great passion of his, always taking his wife and daughters on yearly adventures across the country in a camper. Later in life, he enjoyed traveling abroad with his wife to Europe. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 1:00pm until the time of his celebration of life at 3:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Private family burial at a later date.
