Shirlie A. Harris

Born in Elizabethtown, IL, Shirlie was a woman of deep love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Oscar and Rosetta Stewart; her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Findley Harris; her dear children, Theresa Zither and Charles Harris; her brother, Don Stewart; son-in-law, Mike Zither; and daughter-in-law, Veronica Dampts.

Shirlie’s legacy lives on through her beloved children, Pat (Nick) Biancardi, Charlene (Eddie) Strickland, Bill (Barb) Harris, Tom (Lisa) Harris, Joe (Donna) Harris, and John Harris. She is also remembered fondly by her daughter-in-law, Gale Harris; her sister, Kay (Steve) Stewart-Henderson; and a large, devoted family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride.

Shirlie’s life was centered around the love she gave and the home she created. She found happiness in the simple things such as spending time with family and friends, reading a good book, and watching her favorite shows like Matlock, Perry Mason, and Hogan’s Heroes. But more than anything, Shirlie was happiest when surrounded by those she loved, raising her children and tending to her home with grace and care.

Shirlie’s love, kindness, and gentle spirit will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

A visitation to honor Shirlie’s life will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. A funeral service will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 9:00 AM, followed by a committal service at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.
