Dale was born on January 25, 1956 as the first of three children to loving parents Robert and Mary (Wuestewald) Johansen in Yankton, South Dakota. His family would later move to Dallas, then Plano, Texas where he spent most of his childhood life. He also worked/retired from the United States Postal Service in Plano after 29 years of service. During this time, he was a Union Steward, Benefits Director and Vice President of the Union. His earlier jobs were many; including pool installation, construction, HVAC Technician, Building Engineer/Supervisor for two large building complexes and finally his long career with the Postal Service.
Dale also had a Master’s Degree in Business Engineering and Air Conditioning and Fluid Power.
Left behind to cherish Dale’s memory is his wife of 30 years, Sally (Palmer) Johansen; daughter, Samantha Marie Johansen of Garland, TX; mom, Mary Johansen of Plano, TX; brother, Danny Johansen and his wife Becky of Plano, TX; sister, Debbie Mooney and her husband Audie from Gatesville, TX; and granddaughter, Hazel Marie Johansen. His father, Robert Johansen preceded him in death.
Dale will always be remembered for his extensive carpentry skills and all over handyman talents not excluding air conditioning. He loved to create and cook meals, and in earlier days, loved to golf, bowl, jog, coaching on his daughter’s sporting teams and all water activities.
Dale will always be remembered by his childhood friends, co-workers and most of all his family. He was a dedicated husband, son, brother, father, and Pops to his little Hazel. He will be hugely missed by us all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 12th at 11:00 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1105 West 15th Street, Plano, TX 75075. Interment in St. Mark's Columbarium will immediately follow and a light reception will conclude services at the Parish Center.
