Age: 65
Residence: Plano, TX
Deceased: 11/17/2011 at Baylor Plano Heart Hospital
Cause of Death: Heart Attack
Dennis Clem was born on October 20th, 1946 in Tahoka, TX, to the parents of Roland Warren “Slick” Clem and Melba Ruth Adamson Clem. Dennis is survived by his wife Linda Gale Clem of Plano, TX, daughter Christian Denise Clem of Plano, TX and son Jay Michael Clem his wife Holly, granddaughter Kendall and grandson Kellan of Lubbock, TX. He is also survived by his dogs Maggie and Molly and grand dogs Dixie, Kelsey and Lexie.
Dennis graduated from Tahoka High School in 1965. He attended college at West Texas State University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. While attending West Texas State, he met the love of his life, Linda, in August 1967.
After one year of courtship they both knew they were meant for each other. They were married in Phillips, TX on August 3rd, 1968. They moved to Amarillo soon after their wedding. Thanks to his wife, he was introduced to his career at Dwight’s Energy. This would be his job for 42 great years. He loved this job and people at work. When not devoting his life to his family he was with his other family at work.
Family, Friendship and Loyalty
Family: A family man first and foremost, he loved his family more than anything on this earth. He was married to Linda for 43 wonderful years. One of his sayings that summed up his feelings on family was “don’t ever mess with my family.” Through words and actions, this was witnessed by Linda, Christian and Jay daily. Not a day would go by that he didn’t mention to us, “Have I said how much I love you today?” There was never a doubt of how much he loved his family. The many sacrifices made by Dennis for his family can never be measured. It was Linda, Christian and Jay first then Dennis. His greatest pride would have been him becoming a “Paw Paw.” He was never more happy and proud than when he was with his Kendall and Kellan. His smile and love lit up the room when he was with them. How lucky they are to have had Paw Paw in their lives and to be able to carry on his legacy.
Friendship: Dennis was a big man with a big heart. He loved everyone and was loved by many. There wasn’t a person he met that he didn’t try to find a bond or connection with. He insisted on calling people by their first names, even after just meeting them, to make them feel important. People loved his spirit, his spark, and his fun nature. In fact, a number of people have said that they were proud to call Dennis their best friend.
Loyalty: Dennis was committed to his family and work and always true to his word. He was married for 43 years, fathered his children for 39 years and got to hug on his grandbabies for 5 years. With help from Linda, he raised his family that will now carry on his legacy forever. He was employed at the same company for 42 years-that’s loyalty and so very rare to hear nowadays. He loved his job and his amazing work family. They were truly a second family to Dennis and his family.
To summarize, Dennis loved God, his family, his friends and his dogs. To honor his love of his dogs we ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the following:
