

Amy Diane Schattel (Diane) was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on December 12, 1942, to Amy and Ross Penny. She passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025. She is preceded in death to her husband John Louis Schattel , Sr. A memorial and burial service will be held at The Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia at a later date to be determined.
Diane was a graduate from Arizona State University Summa Cum Laude, and University of Texas at Austin, MS degree in Speech Pathology with Honors.
Diane was married to John Schattel for 39 years. Diane and John were passionate and avid travelers and circled the world twice. They enjoyed sailing greatly.
Diane retired as a speech pathologist and worked as a real estate agent, advertising agent at a radio station, teacher, and assisted Iraqi refugees in Saudi Arabia. She also raised four children.
Diane enjoyed many creative hobbies and made beautiful needlepoint pillows, cushions, and Christmas stockings for family, cards, scrapbooks, pictures and paintings, jewelry and readily shared her creations with family and friends. She enjoyed researching our family’s genealogy and loved to read. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain people. She had many close friends that she adored; and loved to get together with her friends to play games, travel, and share creative activities. Diane loved to spend time with family. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and enjoyed spending time with her DAR sisters.
She is survived by Michele Lynn Boverie and Annette Nicole Cameron and Kevin David Cameron and preceded in death by her sons Robert Louis Boverie, Jr. and James Noel Boverie. She is also survived by Cynthia Schattel Kosan and Keith James Kosan, John Louis Schattel Jr. and Jill Frances Schattel, and Christina Schattel- Curran Cozad and David Charles Cozad and is preceded in death by Cecilia Renee Baker; she is survived by her grandchildren Adrianna Trinidad Rodriguez, Christian Joseph Cameron, Brianna Sue Cameron, Katie Kosan Grieves and Kristofer Robert Grieves, Adam Christopher Kosan, and Harmony Yvonne Kosan, Benjamin John Kosan, Amy Michelle Schattel, Jonathan Tyler Schattel, Andrew Michael Schattel, Abigail Elizabeth Curran, Samuel Edward Curran, and Cecilia Elaine Curran, Louis Elliot Curran, Rose Eileen Curran, and great grandchild Cora Grace Grieves. She is preceded in death by her sister Sally Griffith and brother Ross Penny, Jr.
To know her was to feel her gracious love. We will miss her profoundly.
