

Doris Ernestine Wood McIntyre went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2014 after a valiant and courageous battle with COPD. Doris was at home surrounded by her closest family at the time of her passing. Doris was born on December 20, 1929 in Warrensburg, MO, the daughter of the late Eula Mayta Trapp and the late Ernest Brown Wood. She graduated from Warrensburg High School. Doris attended and received her BS Degree in Speech and Communication from Central Missouri State University. While at Central Missouri State, she met her future husband, Donald Joseph McIntyre. Doris and Donald married on August 29, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. After moving to Texas from Missouri, Doris joined the Farmers Branch-Carrollton Newcomer’s Club where she served as secretary. While being very active in community affairs, she was one of the founding members of the R.L. Turner High School Lions Booster Soccer Club as well as the North Dallas Soccer Association. Upon her children entering high school, Doris decided to enter the workforce and became the bookkeeper at the Brookhaven Apothecary at RHD Memorial Hospital in Farmers Branch, TX. Doris was also active in the Metrocrest Women’s Club. Doris was an avid bridge player and she was the member of several bridge groups. Doris is survived by her husband of 60 years Donald Joseph McIntyre of Carrollton, TX. She is further survived by daughter Kelley McIntyre Reinis and son-in-law Jeff Reinis of Murphy, TX, Son Stephan McIntyre of Bedford, TX and daughter Tierney McIntyre Telese and son-in-law Al Telese of Frisco, TX. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Wood Shuck of Delaware.In closing, here are some words that best describe Doris: loving, kind, gracious, graceful, strong, courageous, God-fearing, beautiful, generous, spirited, intelligent, elegant, a shining light, a compass, a good wife, a good mother, a good sister, a good friend and a good person. She will be sadly missed by her family and all those who knew her.A memorial service and reception celebrating Doris’ life will be held at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, TX 75252 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 8, 2014.
