Born on November 21, 1932, in Tipton, Oklahoma, to E.H. and Viona Parrott Curry, Eddy grew up in a family rooted in faith and love. In 1942, at the age of 10, he was born again by placing his trust in Jesus Christ—a decision that shaped the rest of his life. Eddy was known for his kind and gentle spirit, his patience, and his selflessness. He had a special gift for connecting with people, never meeting a stranger, and he faced life’s challenges without complaint. His sense of humor was infectious, and he found great joy in telling jokes and making others laugh. Those who knew him can imagine him now, rejoicing in his relationship with Christ and proclaiming Psalm 16:6: “…indeed my heritage is beautiful to me.”
Eddy worked for the United States Postal Service for many years, serving in Fresno, California; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Eureka Springs, Arkansas. As a walking mail carrier, he walked 10 miles a day and took great pride in upholding the Postman’s Creed: “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” After retiring on November 28, 1997, Eddy continued to embody the principles of dedication and perseverance in all aspects of his life.
A devoted Arkansas Razorbacks fan, Eddy rarely missed watching a game, regardless of the sport. He was also a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed cheering for his favorite teams.
Above all, Eddy’s deepest passion was his faith. His love for Jesus Christ was central to his life. He lived by the words of Psalm 23 and John 3:16 and declared these verses were good for everyone to follow.
Eddy is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Don, Calvin, Johnny, Max, Marion, Roylee, and Jack; sisters Alma Parsons and Patsy Mhoon; and his twin sister, Ella Paulina Curry.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children, Teresa Eastburn and Ed LaClair; his grandchildren, Ashley Westbrook and Angela Tollerson; and his great-grandson, Peyton Tollerson. His legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on through his family and all those who were fortunate to know him.
A celebration of Eddy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale, Arkansas, with Conley Williams officiating. A private burial will take place at Friendship Cemetery.
