Frank was born in Camden, New Jersey to James and Marguerite Starrett. A veteran of the US Navy, he was a mechanically gifted person whose long career included working at Ford Motor Company, Continental Can Company, and Xerox. In 1959 he married his high school sweetheart, Maryann Starrett. They raised two sons, Frank and Mark, and one daughter, Michelle. Life’s journeys brought them from New Jersey to Arlington, Texas, later to Yukon, Oklahoma, and finally to Plano, Texas.
Frank had a passion for working with his hands. He had an exceptional visual intelligence that, when combined with his mechanical aptitude, allowed him to pursue many hobbies which varied from building home additions to creating stained glass artwork. Frank was a loving and dedicated husband, and throughout his 61 years of marriage to Maryann he devoted much of his time to family gatherings and community outreach. He especially loved his ever-growing family, spending much of his free time visiting, vacationing, and leading an exemplary life as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. A lifelong practicing Catholic, Frank volunteered in many ministries and was a Eucharistic Minister and Coordinator at Prince of Peace Catholic Community. Frank joined his wife in leading and participating in the National Marriage Encounter, whose mission is to celebrate, enrich, and support marriages and families, at the regional level in both Texas and Oklahoma. He and Maryann were avid square dancers, and after retirement he trained and participated in the Citizens Assisting Plano Police (CAPP’s) program.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, James, and his mother, Marguerite. He is survived by his wife, Maryann, his three children, Frank and his wife Judy, Mark and his wife Leesa, and Michelle and her husband, Kevin Anderson, five grandchildren, Kaitlin, Matthew, Lauren, Chris, and Brian, eight great grandchildren, his brother, James, and many extended family members.
A funeral mass will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, October 16th, 2020 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church located at 5100 W. Plano Parkway in Plano, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
