I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7)
Geraldine Irvin Carter, 95, known to most as Jerry, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 21st, 2019. She was born on a farm near Conway Springs, Kansas on March 19th, 1924 to father Herbert Irwin and mother Vanette Mercer Irwin.
During the Great Depression, she moved to Wellington, Kansas where she met the love of her life, Ervin Albert "Boake" Carter. They met when she was in the 8th grade and he in the 10th. They were married in 1944 during WWII and had 58 wonderful years together.
She was a devoted wife and mother to four sons. She is survived by her brother Bob Irwin and his wife Joyce of Centennial, CO; son, Randy and his wife, Brenda of Plano, TX; son, Dave and his wife, Jennie of Richardson, TX; son, Larry and his wife, Oly of Mililani, HI; son, Mark and his wife Ann of Fairfield, CA. Her sons are eternally grateful that she and our Pop always pointed us to Jesus and as a result we all came to know Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior at young ages. She had 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who called her "Grandma" and numerous well-loved nieces and nephews who called her "Aunt Jerry."
Jerry was a multi-talented person. She loved to paint, needlepoint, make ceramics, read and travel. Her favorite pastime was quilting and giving away her handmade treasures. She was a long time member of Hunter's Glen Baptist Church in Plano, TX and participated in the "Red Hat Society." She had a servant's heart and her devotion to her Lord, her husband and family was evident to all who came to know her. She was courageous, kind-hearted and was known for giving really good hugs. She will be missed deeply by all she touched.
