Helen Ann (Knowles) Hubbard, age 89, of Carrollton, Texas passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022. Helen was born May 18, 1933 in Wellsville, New York to Alfred Knowles and Alice (Edwards) Knowles. She loved growing up in a large family and kept in contact with her siblings via cards and letters throughout her life. She is preceded in death by brothers Al, Robert, Russell, and Richard, and by sisters Edith, Bev, and Shirley. Surviving sister Noreen was a very close friend to Helen and wrote to her frequently.
When Helen met Frank, it was love at first sight. They were married on May 30, 1951 and had four children - Pam, Heidi, Tom, and Michael. They were a proud United States Air Force family and enjoyed traveling throughout Europe while stationed at Rhein Main Air Force Base in Germany. Upon their return to the US, they spent time in Nebraska and then settled in Midwest City, Oklahoma, where Helen worked as a secretary for the AWACS division at Tinker Air Force Base. Frank and Helen celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary shortly before his passing in 2007.
Helen was always kind and made friends easily with each new move, at church, and later when she moved into Briarview Senior Living. She was a great seamstress and enjoyed making items for her children and grandchildren, as well as tatting - a skill she learned from her mother. She was an amazing cook and was always trying new recipes, canning, or making jams from their large garden. Family was the most important thing to Helen and she will be dearly missed by her children - Pam (Robert), Heidi, Tom (Ann), and Michael (Angie); grandchildren - Stephanie, Matthew, Michael, Daniel (Sarah), Brian (Heidi), Craig, Blake (Rilee), Andrew, Antonia, Michael, and Mark (Cheyenne); and great-grandchildren - Luca, Julianne, Emerson, Winston, Hudson, and Presley.
A visitation for Helen will be held Friday, June 10, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush, Turnpike, Dallas, TX 75252, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM.
