

Jerry Jan Otwell Grubb passed away on November 28, 2015. She was born in Vivian, Louisiana to William Harold and Helen McCarley. Jerry Jan is survived by her husband, Robert Grubb of Carrollton TX; sons, Michael Otwell and his wife, Martha Poole Otwell of Arlington, TX and Ryan Matthew Grubb of Rockville, MD; daughter, Julie Harrington of Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Jacob Otwell of Arlington, TX, Joshua Otwell of Arlington, TX, Alex Carroll of Shreveport, LA, Kathryn Carroll of Shreveport, LA and Shawnee Pepper of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren, Brodie Pepper of Denver, CO and Nathan Pepper of Denver, CO; brother, William Harold McCarley, Jr. and his wife, Barbara McCarley of Sulphur Springs, TX; and uncle, Jim Walker of Davenport, IA. She was preceded in death by her son, Kurt Otwell.
Jerry Jan was a graduate of Vivian High School in Vivian, LA. She attended Northwestern University in Natchitoches, LA and received her master’s degree at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA. Jerry Jan dedicated her life to teaching vocational education at both Fair Park High School and Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport, LA. During her teaching career, she served as president of the Louisiana Vocational Association. In addition to her family, Jerry Jan considered the success of all the students she taught throughout the years as one of her greatest achievements in life.
Jerry Jan loved her family, friends and church family with all her heart. She was a great woman of faith and loved the Lord. Psalm 100:1 was among one of her favorite scriptures and she took great delight in “making a joyful noise” in the choir at Carrollton Church of the Nazarene. She was ready to go home to heaven when she was called by our Heavenly Father.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Carrollton Church of the Nazarene, 1529 E. Hebron Parkway, Carrollton, Texas 75010.
