Lorraine was never one to skip a beat whether it was dancing the polka or a waltz, laughing at a joke, reading a psychology book, traveling the world, teaching her students, continuing her love of learning, attending anything pertaining to the arts and concerts or lounging on any beach with beautiful sand and sunshine. She was never in a hurry and was always a tad late because she had been involved in learning something very important. Only she could manage to do it all while wearing her signature pearls and emeralds!
• Proud big sister of brother Michael R. Orlowski (d.2023) and baby sister Geraldine Orlowski.
• BA degree in education at Jersey City State College in 1961 and continuing education. Teacher in Rutherford Board of Education in NJ and Plano ISD in TX.
• On 11/4/61 became the devoted wife of Richard (Dick) Leyendecker (d.2021) who always told everyone that Lorraine was the smartest woman he had ever known but somehow forgot to tell her! (Lorraine always believed that she fell in love with Dick because of his spirituality!)
• Blessed mother of two much loved children: infant son Mark and daughter Michele Geraldine White who are waiting for her in Heaven. Proud Grams of Michele’s children: Christopher Bradley White and wife Corry, Lauren Brittany White, and Michael Xavier Lipscomb. Even prouder Grams of Christopher and Corry’s sons Daniel Gavin, Matthew Dylan and Johnathan Bradley.
Lorraine walked through many valleys in her life but credited the Prince of Peace Catholic Church community, her faith family and two spiritual advisors, Father Jim Balint and Father Tom Clorherty, for all the blessings that have sustained her. At Prince of Peace Catholic Church, she was involved in the following ministries:
• A founding member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church who served on the building committee
• Extraordinary minister of Holy Communion
• Lector ~ Bible Study Leader ~ Lay person mentor
• Director of Catechumenate (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
• Procurator/Advocate in the Annulment program
• Advisory team member for Christ Renews His Parish ministry
Her prayer was for everyone to find a faith family that would help to comfort, encourage, support, assist, and give strength to them as they walked through their own personal valleys.
