

It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Griffin Anding, 89, announces the passing of their beloved mother on February 8, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. She passed peacefully in the company of her children. She will be greatly missed.
Margaret was born on November 18,1932 in Laurel, Mississippi to hard-working parents, Bertie M. Griffin and Jettie T. Griffin. She was one of six siblings, having four sisters and one brother. Margaret had an amazing work ethic modeled by her parents which she maintained throughout her life.
After graduating high school at 18, Margaret moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to live with her sister and work at a post office where she eventually met the love of her life, James (Jay) Glen Anding. He would frequent the post office under the guise of business until he finally asked her on a date. After a few years of courtship, they finally married on November 7,1953 and established a home in Baton Rouge. Later, they moved to Alexandria, Louisiana where they made a permanent home and reared their three children, Patti Lynn, Jeffrey Glen, and Erin Elizabeth.
Margaret was an incredibly talented homemaker and dedicated wife and mother. Her family was her pride and joy. Margaret was an excellent cook. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks and trying new recipes to the delight of her family. Every evening for dinner, she presented a delicious meal on a properly set table. Her culinary talents turned holidays into treasured memories. Her Christmas fudge, cornbread dressing at Thanksgiving, and Easter bunny cakes are but a few examples. When visiting her, one could always count on her to ask if you wanted something to eat. The offering of food was her love language to others.
She was also a gifted seamstress, sewing everything from men's suits to wedding dresses. She loved to make beautiful Easter clothes each year for her children. She could answer any question or solve any problem related to sewing. It is an invaluable skill that she passed down to her daughters.
Margaret created an attractive home through her skills in painting, upholstering, and flower arranging. She decorated each room in the home with love and care.
In her later years, after her husband, James, passed away, Margaret moved to Dallas, Texas to be near family. She loved doing crossword puzzles and reading her Bible every day. She was a strong woman of great faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her husband, James, who passed away in 1981. She later married Vince Amiot who passed away in 2018.
Margaret is survived by her children Patti Saucier (Carl), Jeffrey Anding (Denise), Erin Jaynes (Rich), and stepdaughter Meredith Murray (Joe). Her surviving grandchildren include Erin, Kathryn, James, Madeline, Beth, and step-grandchildren Danielle and Andrew. Her surviving great-grandchildren are Abbie, Mason, Isaac, Aaron, Lincoln, and Violet.
A private funeral service will be held at Ted Dickey Funeral Home located at 7990 President George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, Texas, on Friday, February 25, 2022. Burial will follow at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
